One brand that has really been capitalizing on social media is Wendy’s. The reason I bring them up is because, they used social media to profit $64 million in just one year. Stating their strong Twitter game in 2017, it started from “trolling” competitors and has been an on going process since. The food chain has continued this process, and has gotten more public recognition over time from it.
Wendy’s engagement levels have sky rocketed from the trolling, and their preliminary results over the years have grown tremendously. Their net income was $159.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2017 which is a huge increase from their net in come from the fourth quarter of 2016, which was $28.9 million. Their total net income was $194 million in 2017, and $129.6 million in 2016. They have gained a 49.7% growth in profit from $129.6 million to $194 million for the year. On top of it all, Wendy’s sales exceeded the $10 billion global sales target for 2017.

It is obvious that Wendy’s Twitter presence has been a key factor in the growth of their social buzz, popularity, and profit. As seen in the chart above, we see how much Wendy’s follower rate has grown over the six-month period. Their Twitter following increased from 2.1 million to over 2.4 million in just six months.
According to an article written deputy.com, five tactics that Wendy’s uses to keep their fans loyal and engaged are; Its not all about customer service, the power of story telling, keeping a consistent tone of voice, be prepared for damage control, and hire the right people. Clearly they have grown their brand substantially, and are taking over the media and food world.
